Haringey - London - Final Conference
The World in our Neighbourhoods

We decided to title our conference ‘The World in our Neighbourhoods’ as Haringey has the most diverse and largest number of immigrants in the UK. Over the last three years, we have been proud to be part of POSEIDON and have made some strong links with our partner cities, some of whom will be taking part at the conference. We have organised the conference in partnership with The Young Foundation (a very well-known social policy agency here in the UK) which has strong links to the centre of Government and which has been very involved in developing and promoting neighbourhood management. Through their contacts, we have assembled a programme which brings some very interesting people together - including our MP who is also a Government Minister, a social psychology professor from Oxford University who has researched ethnic conflicts across the world, social policy researchers, and a Muslim Police Superintendent from a neighbouring London borough.

As well as our guest speakers we are having case study workshops to highlighting experiences from POSEIDON and we are hoping to have studies from Paris and Berlin as an interesting contrast. There will also be an exciting debate on globalisation and diversity with our key speakers and POSEIDON partners.
